Olympic medallist Max Whitlock becomes Redevelopment Appeal Ambassador

The RNOH Redevelopment Appeal has secured a further boost to our £15million initiative, by announcing Olympic gymnast Max Whitlock as one of our official Appeal Ambassadors.

 The 21-year old Olympic medallist, who will be competing at the Commonwealth Games in the coming weeks, is thrilled to support the Appeal on a long term basis. The news comes after Max’s recent appearance at our flagship fundraising event, the Buttercup Walk, held in Stanmore last month where he performed two special routines during the event.  

 The talented young sportsman helped the British  gymnastics team win a bronze medal at London 2012, the first in a hundred years. Max, who comes from Hemel Hempstead, also took the bronze medal in the individual pommel horse event, behind his GB teammate Louis Smith and Hungary’s Krisztián Berki. Max recently beat the Olympic champion to win Gold at the European Championships and he hopes to bring home a medal when he takes centre stage in Glasgow.

 Max has been inspired by the positive attitude and determination of RNOH patient and friend David Holmes, former stuntman to Daniel Radcliffe.  “It is a great honour to be representing the Charity’s Appeal and I am excited to do all I can to help raise its profile. I’ve been privileged to spend time with patients at the Buttercup Walk and hear about the incredible treatment they have received at the RNOH. It’s a very special hospital and I’m looking forward to working more closely with the Charity.”

Rosie Stolarski, Director of Fundraising and Development at The RNOH Charity, added: “Max has achieved incredible sporting success already at such a young age and we are thrilled that he has agreed to become an ambassador. I know he will be a real inspiration to our patients, staff and supporters. His support will help raise The Charity Appeal’s profile and bring us one step closer to raising money to fund state-of-the-art equipment and new facilities that will help improve the lives of patients at the hospital.”
